Inside My Morning Routine: How I Start My Day Like a Millionaire

Posted in Real Estate Blog On June 29, 2025

There’s something powerful about the way your day begins—it sets the tone, shapes your productivity, and impacts your mindset; this is why you need to start it exactly like a millionaire does. I’m Erik Brown, your Beverly Hills luxury realtor, and I believe that a solid morning routine isn’t just a flex—it’s a strategy. Over the years, I’ve refined a millionaire morning rhythm that puts me in control, boosts my mental clarity, and helps me show up as my best self for my clients, family, and business. Whether you’re a fellow entrepreneur, a high-performing professional, or simply looking to inject more energy and success into your day, I’m opening the doors to my morning. Spoiler: it doesn’t involve scrolling TikTok or snoozing ten times.

I didn’t always have a millionaire’s morning routine. But let me tell you—when I stopped rolling out of bed like a gremlin and started owning my a.m. like a boss, everything changed. Energy? Sky-high. Focus? Laser-sharp. Real estate closings? Let’s just say mornings became my money-making machine. If you’re thinking this blog’s going to be about 4 a.m. ice baths and meditating with monks in the hills of Malibu—nope. It’s practical, it’s personal, and it’s 100% repeatable. And if you’re someone who’s ever looked at those glossy Instagram routines and thought “Yeah right,” this one’s for you. Trust me, if I can do it (without giving up espresso), so can you.

My Philosophy on Mornings (and Money)

Mornings aren’t just a time to wake up—they’re when you set the tone for everything. I treat them like a boardroom meeting with myself. And listen, I’ve learned from the greats: Jeff Bezos reportedly prioritizes a calm morning with no alarms, and Richard Branson starts the day with exercise and reflection. I’m somewhere in between—with a heavy dose of Beverly Hills flair.

Step 1: Waking Up with Purpose (No Snoozing Allowed)

I rise at 5:45 a.m. sharp. No snooze. Why? Because snoozing is just procrastinating your greatness. I use a sunrise alarm clock, which mimics natural light. Game changer. It’s like the Beverly Hills sunrise in your bedroom. I take a second to mentally set intentions before my feet even hit the ground.

There’s no email pinging, no Slack messages, no distractions. It’s my time to anchor the day. I begin with five minutes of deep breathing to bring awareness to the present moment and intentionally shift into a state of gratitude. Then comes hydration—at least 16 ounces of water with a dash of pink Himalayan salt and a squeeze of lemon to jumpstart my metabolism and replenish electrolytes lost during sleep.

Step 2: Hydration and Mindset Work

Before anything, I down a tall glass of water with lemon and trace minerals. Hydration is the millionaire’s secret sauce. Then it’s onto a quick 10-minute mindset ritual: gratitude journaling, reviewing goals, and yes—a little visualization. Science backs this up: studies show gratitude increases happiness and productivity.

Science agrees: hydration early on boosts cognitive performance and alertness. I’ve also found that doing something uncomfortable early—like taking a cold shower or getting through 10 minutes of intense cardio—wakes up not just my body, but my mental discipline.

Next comes what I call my “mental gym.” This is a sacred block of time where I train my mindset as fiercely as any athlete trains their body. I review my goals—both short and long-term—while journaling three priorities for the day. Visualization plays a huge role. I close my eyes and envision myself closing deals, signing papers, walking through luxury homes with happy clients. That mental rehearsal builds confidence and keeps my energy high throughout the day. I often listen to podcasts like The Tim Ferriss Show or The Ed Mylett Show, both of which provide a shot of entrepreneurial wisdom and motivation. I also spend 10 minutes reading from a personal development or business book—because feeding the mind is non-negotiable.

Step 3: The Power Workout (Luxury Meets Sweat)

Next stop? Movement. I alternate between strength training at Equinox Beverly Hills and cardio at Runyon Canyon. Sometimes I’ll hit a boxing class at BoxUnion for that endorphin-packed start. It’s not just about aesthetics—my workouts fire up my brain and give me that edge in negotiations and strategy sessions.

Whether I’m lifting weights at Dogpound or hitting the stairs at Runyon Canyon, my body gets activated. Exercise isn’t just for aesthetics—it’s about energy and mindset. Studies from the Mayo Clinic show that early morning workouts enhance focus, mood, and cognitive function. Even on travel days or tight schedules, I’ll do 30 minutes of bodyweight training or a Peloton ride at home. Movement gets the dopamine and serotonin flowing, helping me enter meetings and calls feeling sharp, present, and positive. If I can conquer the gym before the sun’s fully up, the rest of the day feels like a bonus round.

Step 4: Fueling Up Like a Pro

Forget the greasy breakfast sandwiches. My go-to? A green smoothie packed with spinach, chia seeds, collagen, and almond butter. On bigger mornings, I head to Alfred Coffee or Kreation for something hearty but clean. Protein and healthy fats are the name of the game.

Now comes the actual breakfast. But we’re not talking pancakes and syrup. My morning meals are all about clean, sustained energy. Typically, I rotate between protein-rich smoothies (with greens, chia seeds, collagen peptides, and nut butter) or a high-protein breakfast bowl with eggs, avocado, and sautéed veggies. I avoid heavy carbs in the morning to prevent the mid-morning crash. And yes, coffee is sacred—but it comes after water and movement. My favorite? A double shot of espresso with oat milk and cinnamon, enjoyed while scanning new luxury listings and market updates. This part of the routine ties into my business brain: I’m feeding my body while mentally mapping out the day’s key priorities.

Step 5: Dressing for Success (Even if It’s Just a Zoom Call)

Looking sharp = feeling sharp. I pull from a capsule wardrobe of classic suits, crisp shirts, and the occasional statement sneaker. I follow a simple style rule: Be memorable, not loud. Because in real estate, perception is half the game. By 8:00 AM, I’ve already done more for myself than many people do in a full day—and that’s the point.

Now it’s time to shift into high-performance mode. I open my planner and review my calendar, confirming listing appointments, property walkthroughs, and client calls. I also tackle one “needle mover”—a key task that, if accomplished, will create disproportionate results. This could be finalizing a marketing campaign, negotiating a deal, or connecting with a potential partner. Morning is when my decision-making is strongest, so I use that window to make strategic moves. It’s about momentum—and millionaires don’t wait for it. They create it.

Step 6: The Real Estate Hustle Begins

By 8:00 a.m., I’m reviewing the market—new listings, buyer behavior, and trends in Beverly Hills and Los Angeles. I hit up The Real Deal and Mansion Global to stay sharp. I respond to urgent client texts, align with my team, and prep for any showings.

Millionaire Habits You Can Steal Today

Here’s the kicker: you don’t need a $10 million home to start your day like a millionaire. You need discipline, intention, and a few hacks:

  • Wake up at the same time every day.
  • Move your body. Even 20 minutes counts.
  • Start your day with clarity, not chaos.
  • Dress like the person you want to become.
  • Take 15 minutes to plan your day. It will save you hours.

Final Thoughts

Mornings aren’t just a routine—they’re a launchpad. Whether you’re closing deals in Beverly Hills or working from your kitchen table in Burbank, how you start your day can change everything.
