How to Become a Real Estate Agent in California?

If you’re thinking of starting a professional career in real estate in California, Los Angeles, San Diego, or another city in the state, you’ll require earning a California real estate license.

To create your real estate license in California, you need to be at least 18 years old, finish the 135-hour Relicensing education requirement using an approved faculty, be fingerprinted, and pass the California salesperson licensing examination. While getting a realtor license is comparable in most states, every state has unique measures to be adhered to. The following five steps to getting to Become a Real Estate Agent in California property broker license are as follows:

1. Complete 135 hours of Pre-Licensing Education

You must first take and pass 135 hours of Pre-Licensing course work which consists of three courses including:

  • Real Estate Principles [ 45 hours ]
  • Real Estate Practices [ 45 hours ]
  • Real Estate Finance [ 45 hours ]

2. Pass the Course with a Final Exam

Once you achieve a specific Pre-Licensing course, you must take a final exam. You have two attempts to pass each final exam, and you are allotted one minute per question. The moving score for individuals on these ultimate exams is 70%.

3. Pass the California Salesperson Licensing exam

After you pass your final exams, you will take the California licensing exam. This exam consists of 150 multiple-choice questions with a time limit of three hours and 15 minutes, and the minimum passing mark is 70%.

4. Choose a Sponsoring Broker

To Become a Real Estate Agent in California to begin your new career, you must be sponsored by an active California real estate agent. It’s crucial to find a good fit when picking a real estate agent to work with, and it’s a critical factor in becoming a successful real estate agent in California.

Some questions to consider when searching for the right agent.

  • What variety of real estate agents is there in the area?
  • How do they help their agents, including education and training?
  • Do they contribute an advantage?
  • Do they provide their agents with proofs and retailing material?
  • Is there an opportunity to arise with the brokerage?

5. Complete your Licensing Application

Subsequently, you pass the inspection and have listed a License Combo Application. You will be assigned a Salesman License Application [RE 202]. This information must be executed and passed along with the relevant fee within one year of transferring the examination.
