The Best 7 schools in Beverly Hills you NEED to know of

For youngsters, elementary school represents a watershed moment in their lives. The first day of nursery school, regardless of a child’s previous preschool experience, marks the beginning of a new world – a world that may delight developing brains while also intimidating them — and a world that profoundly shapes a child’s perception of knowledge and teaching.

One of the most important factors in relocating to a particular area is the quality of education there. That is exactly what the people of Beverly Hills look for! Like the neighborhood, the schools in Beverly Hills are also exemplary in teaching and extra-curricular activities. Let me tell you about some of the top-notch educational institutions!

El Rodeo Elementary is a public elementary school in Beverly Hills, California, which is placed in a spacious suburban environment.

History

The Austin, Ashley, and Hudson architectural firm developed El Rodeo de Las Aguas Elementary School, which opened its doors in 1927. W.A. Hudson was the architect of record for the seismic restorations in 1934, which were completed after the earthquake

A two-story expansion was built in 1963 to accommodate growing enrollment, and it contained a gymnasium, extra shop space, and music practice rooms. William Shinderman was responsible for the design of these. Construction began on expansions, designed by Maurice H. Fleishman, in the late 1960s, which featured a three-story building and more classroom space.

Facilities and education

El Rodeo Elementary School in Beverly Hills is dedicated to seeking excellence, creating a secure learning environment, promoting diversity, and developing character in all its students. Besides a comprehensive range of student support services and enrichment programs, its educational approach places a strong focus on differentiation. Collaborative efforts among stakeholders give students the chance to attain their highest possible level of achievement.

Faculty and teachers

El Rodeo is fortunate to have a great teaching team that implements a varied instructional program supporting students’ specific needs to guarantee an academic achievement. Leveled readers, small group instruction, project, and experiential learning, and exploration centers are just a few programs and strategies implemented to promote individualized learning.

Technology and education software have also been integrated to promote individualized learning. Instructors often collaborate during their efforts to enliven the curriculum and enhance technique. Differentiated assessments are included in engaging lessons, which then shape future teaching and assessment.

#2 Beverly Vista Elementary School

History

The Beverly Hills Elementary School District was established in October 1913, three months before Beverly Hills was formed, with just one elementary school, the Canyon School, which was eventually relocated and renamed Hawthorne School. Two further elementary schools were erected in the next 14 years to satisfy the educational demands posed by the city’s continued growth: Beverly Vista in 1924-25 and El Rodeo in 1927.

Beverly Vista Middle School

In 1927, the Beverly Hills Board of Education, which consisted of three members, bought numerous parcels of property to construct a fourth elementary school in the face of even greater population expansion. Acquiring this property was completed in 1928 after a bond measure was passed.

The Beverly Hills Unified School District was reorganized for the 2019-2020 school year, and Beverly Vista Middle School opened its doors as the district’s first dedicated middle school. To rethink education for middle-grade kids in Beverly Hills, all students and staff in grades 6-8 from throughout the district gathered at Beverly Vista Middle School.

Middle school children in Beverly Hills would benefit from this transition because it would provide them with the opportunity to study in a setting specifically designed to meet their developmental requirements.

Facilities and education

Last and most significantly, Beverly Hills High School continues its tradition of academic success. Every year, the district offers students the PSAT and SAT during a school day. The high school has a dedicated College Counselor. Even during COVID, Beverly maintained AP courses and curriculum, providing students an opportunity to complete AP coursework and participate in AP exams.

Faculty and teachers

Every staff at the Beverly Vista school is dedicated to developing children. They do this by focusing on the mental and emotional health of the students. In this way, they help achieve the personal and academic aspirations of students through building resilience, valuing learning, making connections, and showing integrity.

#3 Hawthorne School

History

Hawthorne School once served children from kindergarten through eighth grade. Beginning in 2019, Hawthorne will only serve kids in kindergarten through fifth grade. The school, founded in 1914, enrolls around 600 students and occupies the majority of the 600 block of North Rexford Drive. It is the district’s oldest elementary school. Its graduates include Jack Abramoff and Monica Lewinsky.

Facilities and education

Hawthorne believes that the school staff and the families constitute an important team that works together to support our children’s academic and social-emotional development. They need the attention of parents and people of the community now more than ever. Following a year in which we focused primarily on Zoom, we have identified Social-Emotional Learning and Connectedness as one of our top goals for the next year.

Overall, Hawthorne School is one of the finest of its type in Beverly Hills, and it is well known for providing children with cutting-edge facilities that are unparalleled.

Faculty and teachers

The great instructors at Hawthorne Elementary School in Beverly Hills provide the groundwork for your children’s academic success. They put in many hours throughout the year to guarantee the success of all kids. The instructors establish high standards and objectives for themselves and their students.

These students act in this manner because they are certain that every member of their school community will work together to guarantee that each student accomplishes at the best possible level. To accomplish a year’s progress in one year for every kid in the district is the aim of the whole district. All instructors and staff are focused on helping students improve their academic performance.

Hawthorne Elementary School

#4 Horace Mann School

History

Horace Mann Elementary School (named after Horace Mann, an American education reformer, abolitionist, and legislator) was a defunct elementary school in Beverly Hills that taught children from kindergarten through the eighth grade. The Horace Mann School will begin serving children in Kindergarten through Fifth Grade in the fall of 2019.

In March 1929, work started on a two-story, 30-room school building in the Spanish architectural style. The school was renamed Horace Mann School in July, and on December 9, 1929, 307 children and 11 instructors joined the building for kindergarten through sixth grade.

The school was consecrated on March 21, 1930, with a formal ceremony. First-year students in the seventh grade attended in February 1930, and the first-year students in the eighth grade went in the autumn of the same year. The inaugural graduating class, consisting of 30 students, took place in June of 1930.

As part of the school’s expansion in 1932 and 1933, a large portion of Arnaz Drive was closed off to provide more playground areas and to guarantee safe transit for kids between the buildings. The music, art, and industrial arts wings were renovated between 1962 and 1963. The school’s tower structure, completed in 1968, replaced the auditorium, which was restored in 1966. In 1975, a teacher parking building was constructed, with middle school classrooms above it. Property on Robertson Boulevard was purchased in the 1980s to expand the business.

Facilities and education

The Horace Mann Art Program is aimed to instill confidence in students while also encouraging them to express themselves artistically. This is accomplished via a high level of involvement, positive reinforcement, and peer learning. Each week, student artists participate in art workshops where they explore a range of fine art materials and instruments while learning about and practicing particular visual art approaches.

Also, students engage in interactive scientific laboratories once a week designed to complement what they are learning in class and are aligned with the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS). Students get a profound knowledge that science is learning about the natural world via asking questions, making observations, doing experiments, and being patient with the results.

Faculty and teachers

Throughout the year, Horace Mann Elementary School’s teachers are given the opportunity to attend professional conferences, returning to campus to share and train fellow teachers on the innovations and strategies learned as they relate to current practices and programs. Attendance and participation are based on each individual teacher’s areas of expertise and responsibility. This helps a great deal in getting the best from the students.

#5 Beverly Hills High School

History

When Beverly Hills High School first opened its doors in 1928 to 320 pupils, it was a far cry from the place it is now. The school was recognized for its outstanding academic performance as well as for delivering a comprehensive curriculum that meets the requirements of all students enrolled at the institution.

Facilities and education

Beverly Hills High School provides a safe, clean environment for learning through proper facilities maintenance and campus supervision. The campus also includes a science and technology building. In June 2021, we opened our brand new B1 and B2 buildings, including twelve new state-of-the-art classrooms, a College & Career Center, and the Norman Aide and Administrative offices.

Faculty and teachers

The faculty and staff are particularly complimented for their outstanding engagement with the community and for our dedication to equipping all students to handle the challenges of the twenty-first century. They will continue to give this high level of educational quality. They encourage all students to take advantage of the plethora of possibilities available to them throughout their time at Beverly Hills High School.

#6 Page Schools Beverly Hills

History

Beverly Hills Page Academy traces its origins back to Robert and Della Page Gibbs, two educators who started Page Military Academy in a tiny home in Los Angeles, California, in 1908. Robert and Della Page Gibbs were both educators at its founding. In 1917, the school outgrew its original location and relocated to a multi-acre campus in West Los Angeles, where the Gibbs’ principles and teaching methodology could be shared with even more youngsters.

Edith Gibbs, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gibbs, ultimately married Earle Russell Vaughan, whom she had met while a student at Page Beverly Hills. When Edith Gibbs Vaughan and her husband Earle returned to Page in the 1930s, they were inspired by the Gibbs’ love for teaching children and carried on the Gibbs tradition.

Over time, they rose through the ranks to take on leadership roles and extend the curriculum, all while upholding Page’s basic ideals. Under Edith and Earle’s guidance, the school grew and expanded, eventually becoming a home for hundreds of children, including their own. Page later grew into two day-school campuses — Beverly Hills and Hancock Park — because of Vaughan’s efforts and devotion.

Today, the great-grandchildren of the founders are also working hard to carry on the family tradition. The fourth generation of the family shares a strong feeling of duty and optimism for the future, which is particularly true now that the fifth generation of the family has joined the Page student population.

Facilities and education

Each student from the infant level through eighth grade receives an individualized education tailored to his or her learning style and unique strengths, which can only be accomplished through our small class sizes. Their small class sizes and the best facilities allow teachers to individualize lesson plans, be more responsive to students’ needs, and continually challenge them academically.

Faculty and teachers

Page Academy’s dedication to academic quality, paired with a love for teaching, has resulted in success for the school and for the lives of its students in each successive generation since its founding. Page anticipates the next 100 years with a sense of pride and excitement as we approach closer to the milestone.

#7 Beverly Hills Presbyterian Preschool

History

From the beginning, Beverly Hills Presbyterian Preschool has served the local community. The school first opened its doors in 1950 and has continued to serve the community ever since. Margaret Hamilton, a great performer, started our school as an extension of her passion for teaching, which she pursued as a vocation before her success on the stage and on television.

Her most well-known part is that of the Wicked Witch of the West in the classic film The Wizard of Oz, for which she is best remembered. For her idea to build a nursery school on the junction of Rodeo Drive and Santa Monica Boulevard, we will be forever thankful.

The school, which was founded out of Margaret’s passion for education, has been a blessing to many students for over seventy years. We have contemporary parents who attended BHPP as children decades ago, which provides a strong sense of tradition and a particular link for families to our institution.

The preschool is on the grounds of the Beverly Hills Presbyterian Church and has a huge, beautiful campus with numerous classrooms, multi-purpose halls, various outdoor play areas, and even a dedicated preschool library. The preschool is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Facilities and education

Providing an opportunity for each kid to grow in social, emotional, physical, cognitive, creative, and spiritual development is the primary goal. Children learn about themselves, build an understanding of others, and develop a sense of self-worth in this fascinating atmosphere. Each kid is treated as a unique creation of God, and they are accepted, encouraged, and respected as such.

Art, language, music, movement, science, outdoor play, and cooking are all included in each session at BHPP because children learn best through play and children learn the most when they play together. Early academic foundations are taught in our older classrooms as we progressively move our emphasis away from the primary curriculum and toward kindergarten preparedness.

Faculty and teachers

Beverly Hills Presbyterian Preschool always seeks qualified Early Childhood Education teachers who possess a nurturing spirit, graceful teamwork attitude, and a passion for teaching. That is why it is one of the best schools in town when it comes to professionalism and skilled staff.
