If you are interested to know about the difference between Bel Air and Beverly Hills currently in a fortunate enough position to consider living in Beverly Hills or Bel Air, you may be wondering how these two exclusive neighborhoods differ. The two are very similar, but they hold a couple of differences, that may sway you to pick one over the other.

Geography of Bel Air and Beverly Hills

Perhaps it might be worth me clarifying the actual geography of these locations for you. The neighborhood of Bel Air is situated within the city of Los Angeles, neatly tucked away in the West Side’s hills. However, Beverly Hills is its very own city wholly surrounded by Los Angeles, with Bel Air being on one side. With your job’s commute to consider, this may make a difference in your decision.

Things to do in Bel Air and Beverly Hills

Bel Air is relatively secluded. Aside from tranquil parks and golf clubs, there isn’t much to do in the immediate area. Residents actually choose this location for its incredible privacy rather than its abundance of fun activities.

On the other hand, Beverly Hills offers home residents plenty of access to anything they could want. There are exclusive, top-rated fashion boutiques, cafés, restaurants, and other stores, not to mention some of the finest nightclubs situated along the Sunset Strip. Rodeo Drive is renowned for its vast number of upscale shops, whilst downtown Beverly Hills is also reasonably walkable. You can find luxury brands of car dealerships here that you won’t be able to find in Bel Air, with Ferrari, McLaren, and Rolls Royce all holding a spot.

Neighborhood safety of Bel Air and Beverly Hills

Bel Air is slightly safer than Beverly Hills – but only by a margin. Bel Air has its own security force with frequent street patrolling, meaning that crime is pretty non-existent. Whilst Beverly Hills also doesn’t host much violent crime, its crime rate is increased by property crimes and crimes tied to tourists and locals attracted to the city.

The cost of living in Bel Air and Beverly Hills

Whilst both areas cannot be pronounced cheap, Bel Air is slightly more affordable on average than Beverly Hills. Housing is still extortionately expensive compared to the rest of the US; however, you can seek out some less costly areas. For example, some of the townhouses are under $1 million, whilst the region of Bel Air Crest is additionally home to some reasonably affordable houses. While some more affordable areas within Beverly Hills also have higher living costs. The average home value in this upscale city sits at a whopping $3.8 million!

Hopefully, you now have more of an idea about how these two places differ. If you’re still struggling, perhaps a Beverly Hills luxury real estate agent like me, Erik Brown, can help you.
